Our commitment to using only Mother Nature's foods enables Acégélia to create products capable of providing the vitamins, minerals, and other important nutrients needed to help maintain or regain good health.
Phytic acid has received some bad press of late; however, we share a different point of view. Research shows that phytic acid may only block the absorption of iron and zinc (and possibly other minerals to a lesser degree) by 20%, which is a low percentage. Thus, we believe that phytic acid’s health benefits far outweigh this small absorptive issue, which can be easily corrected by simply increasing the consumption of foods high in those minerals lost. Interestingly, efforts to keep phytic levels low aren’t really necessary because bacteria in a healthy digestive tract help humans metabolize excess phytic acid, which offsets any perceived negatives. Research has also proven that phytic acid is a powerful antioxidant capable of protecting against diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and kidney stone formation, as well as reducing heart disease, obesity, inflammation, blood sugar, insulin, cholesterol, and triglycerides. By design, all ingredients used in our pastas are highly beneficial to the body and all of its 37.2 trillion cells! https://www.drcarney.com/blog/entry/phytic-acid-in-grains-no-problem
